CBSA starts dumping investigation on grinding media from India
Trade Tribunal will now determine whether the imports are harming Canadian producers
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) launched an investigation into whether or not certain grinding media originating in or exported from India are being sold at unfair prices in Canada and whether it is being subsidized. The investigation follows a complaint filed by a Canadian manufacturer.
In the next step of the investigation the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will first determine, by February 15, 2021, whether the imports are harming Canadian producers.
Concurrently, the CBSA will investigate whether the imports are being sold in Canada at unfair prices and will make a preliminary decision by March 17, 2021.
Anti-dumping and/or countervailing duties could eventually be applied to the goods under investigation.
Grinding media is commonly used in the mining and cement industries to process minerals, particularly ore, to minute particles or fragments.
