Port of Montreal dockworkers to begin strike on Monday
Strike will result in a complete shutdown of cargo handling and docking services normally provided by dockworkers.
The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) issued the following news release:

The dockworkers’ union CUPE Local 375 sent a 72-hour notice of an unlimited general strike to the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) at 6:59 a.m. on Friday, April 23.
The notice is for an unlimited general strike by dockworkers beginning April 26 that will result in the complete shutdown of cargo handling and docking services normally provided by dockworkers at Port of Montreal terminals.
It should also be noted that the current episode of the partial strike provides that no cargo handling and docking services will be done during the weekend preceding the unlimited general strike.
This affects the following services and terminals:
• Cast
• Maisonneuve
• Racine
• Viau
• Logistec terminals in Montreal and Contrecoeur (dry bulk)
• CanEst
• Lantic Sugar
Not affected by this situation:
• Liquid bulk handling
• Oceanex service (Bickerdike Terminal)
• Grain terminal (Viterra)
