Dumping would resume if duties expired on thermoelectric containers, says CBSA
Tribunal will now determine whether the expiry would likely result in injury to Canadian industry.
On October 30, 2018, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its order made in December 2008 and renewed in December 9, 2013 concerning the dumping and subsidizing of certain thermoelectric containers that provide cooling and/or warming with the use of a passive heat sink and a thermoelectric module, excluding liquid dispensers, originating in or exported from China.
Following the Tribunal’s decision the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an expiry review investigation to determine whether the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and/or subsidizing of the subject goods.
The CBSA’s investigation has now been completed and the Agency has determined that the expiry of the Tribunal’s order is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and subsidizing of the goods exported into Canada.
The Tribunal will now conduct an inquiry to determine whether the expiry of its finding is likely to result in injury to the Canadian industry and will issue its decision by September 5, 2019.
