Consultation on tariff rate quota administration for dairy, poultry and egg products

Tariff rate quotas went from 20 categories in 1995 to soon 58 once the new NAFTA comes into force.

Global Affairs Canada launched a public consultation on the system of allocation and administration of tariff rate quotas (TRQ) for dairy, poultry and egg products.

Through the negotiation of a number of new trade agreements, the Government of Canada has increased its TRQ commitments for supply managed commodities from the 20 TRQs established under the World Trade Organization in 1995 to 42 TRQs under administration today.

The implementation of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement would see this increase to 58 TRQs.

To ensure continued efficiency and effectiveness, the Government of Canada is seeking stakeholder views on the allocation and administration of these TRQs.

Stakeholders have until 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) on August 31, 2019, to submit their responses, comments and suggestions.
