CFIA – Update to import requirements for strawberry plants from the Netherlands

Please be advised that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has updated directive D-18-01: Phytosanitary requirements for imported small fruit propagative material to approve the import of propagative plant material of strawberry (Fragaria spp.) originating from the Netherlands based on the results of a pest risk analysis.
Imported propagative plant material of Fragaria spp. (excluding seeds) must be produced under the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO) standard PM 4/11 (2) certification scheme for strawberry. Shipments must be accompanied by an import permit and phytosanitary certificate attesting to this.
It is important to note that this material and its progeny are not eligible for export to the United States, no matter how long it is held or grown in Canada.
The CFIA Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) has also been updated.
These changes are to be implemented immediately.

Veuillez prendre note que l’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments a mis à jour la directive D-18-01 : Exigences phytosanitaires relatives à l’importation de matériel de multiplication de plantes à petits fruits pour approuver l’importation de matériel végétal de multiplication de fraisier (Fragaria spp.) provenant des Pays-Bas sur la base des résultats d’une analyse du risque phytosanitaire.
Le matériel végétal de multiplication importé de Fragaria spp. (à l’exclusion des semences) doit être produit conformément à la norme PM 4/11 (2) Schéma de certification pour le fraisier de l’Organisation Européenne et Méditerranéenne pour la Protection des Plantes (OEPP). Les envois doivent être accompagnés d’un permis d’importation et d’un certificat phytosanitaire attestant du respect de la norme.
Il est important de noter que ce matériel et sa progéniture ne sont pas admissibles à l’exportation aux États-Unis, peu importe la durée de leur conservation ou de leur culture au Canada.
Le système automatisé de référence à l’importation (SARI) de l’ACIA a également été mis à jour.
Ces changements doivent être mis en œuvre immédiatement.
