CFIA proposes changes to how much food individuals can bring into Canada

The new rules would reduce the quantities allowed for certain food items brought in by travellers.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced that it is proposing changes to how much food individuals can bring with them into Canada.

The Agency says the objective of the proposed changes is to set personal limits that better reflect the weight/volume of foods typically moved by travellers for their personal use.

The proposed changes would include new limits for certain food categories.

The Government initiated a consultation, looking for feedback on all of the proposed limits for each food. Individuals and stakeholders can provide input until March 4, 2020.
