CBSA initiates dumping investigation on container chassis from China

Tribunal will first determine whether the imports are harming Canadian producers

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) launched investigations to determine whether container chassis from China are being sold at unfair prices in Canada and whether these goods are being subsidized.

The investigation follows a complaint filed by a Canadian manufacturer in Quebec. Two other producers of container chassis, in Ontario, have expressed support for the complaint.

In the next step of the investigation the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will first determine whether the imports are harming Canadian producers.

Concurrently, the CBSA will investigate whether the imports are being sold in Canada at unfair prices, or are being subsidized.

Anti-dumping and/or countervailing duties could eventually be applied to the goods under investigation.
